Water scarcity in Sainikpuri

Q: I might have to move to Sainakpuri, Hyderabad but I recently heard about the water problem issue and was wondering whether there is a lack of civic facilities?

Yes, the water situation is not being taken care of in Sainakputi but the place isn't all bad! The conditions have improved but overall Hyderabad faces a water problem. But now there is wasa- Water and Sanitation Agency to repair broken infrastructure because of broken sewerage lines. The agency had a lack of funds and that's why the work was so slow. But 4 water supply schemes and 6 sewerage plans were devised for Hyderabad and now there has been improvement. The locality actually has some great schools and colleges.

Hey. Have you heard of Swargalok? Sainikpuri's Hindu cemetary. Because of the water issue, there was never any water to perform ritual rites in swargalok. So people actually had to go all the way from sainakpuri to Alwal. It became very difficult to just transport the body from point A to point B. There is a lack of general maintenance in the area. even a jet pump was supplied to swargalok to supply water but that also got stolen. I don't know how the current situation is though but the facilities were very bad a year ago.

About 2 years ago the situation was pretty bad. Borewells had gone completely dry all around Sainikpuri's Vivekanandapuram colony and the residents had a very tough time. The entire area was dependent on the water supply of the Hyderabad Metropolitan water board and Sewage Board for everyday water requirements. The groundwater levels started to drastically deplete and even the borewells took atleast 4 to 5 months to pump water. There was also a Manjira lake water connection but there was never a fixed time. There was barely any water that ever used to come out of the tap. Even the monthly water bill for the residents increased from Rs 132 to Rs 212. Yet there wasn't much of a change in the water facilities. Take your time and think about this. I actually don't think it's a good option to shift there.
