Q: Hey I see a lot of commotion in Coimbatore regarding the roads, traffic development. I hear a lot of projects are coming in. Coimbatore is my target for a good chunk of investment in real estate. These kinda things will definitely help. You guys have any idea, what projects are being proposed?

Hey there is good news about that. A land owner in that stretch has agreed to gift his land to the corporation, so now they have the land to lay down the scheme road!

Other than the scheme roads, the corporation says that the Perur-Thadagam link road, Selvachinthamani Tank link road, Singanallur-Vellalore link road, Masakalipalayam Road widening and other projects are at various stages of implementation.Though they have not taken off, there has been progress in paper work.

The link road connecting Sathyamangalam Road with Thudiyalur Road is something that should happen on a priority basis. The traffic situation is so congested on the stretch between the Thudiyalur Road Junction and the Kalapatty Road Junction on the Sathyamangalam Road, that something needs to be done about it immediately.

The scheme roads are supposed to be a major helping infrastructure in easing up the traffic congestion in these places. The announcement was made couple of years ago that there would be at least 2 scheme roads built in coimbatore every year. But that's been a no go till now.

They are also thinking of installing a vehicle free zone, which can be used by the cyclists as tracks or pedestrians. They are planning on making cycle tracks connecting areas like Avinashi road, Trichy road, Race course Valankulam, Vilankurichi road, etc.

Yea, if you follow the news, you’d see that a lot of infrastructural changes are being proposed to control traffic in the city. With these cycle sharing and tracks, they are doing an awesome thing. They have derived a plan to connect major areas like gandhipuram, Puliakulam, Ukkadam, R.S Puram, etc.

Yea, very impressive one if you have the time to read through the entire thing. They had proposed projects like Pedestrian zones, Cycle tracks, green ways. They have kept in mind the the idea of environment-friendly CBE.

There was a conference in the beginning of 2014, they proposed a complete transportation plan for Coimbatore, which included proper planning of roads, walkways, bus stands, vehicle management on roads, etc.
