Traffic Congestion in Gandhipuram

Q: I recently saw an apartment for rent on Nanjappa Road and I will be
shifting in about 2 weeks. While the flat is really nice, I've heard
that Gandhipuram has crazy traffic problems. Is anyone aware of this?
And if it is so, are there any plans by the government to eradicate this
issue? Please help me with his problem as I will be having to travel to
college somewhere near Vadavalli and can't afford to get late.

Not only Gandhipuram, but like all other growing cities, Coimbatore
faces a major traffic problem. The infrastructure of the city is not
planned to meet the demand of the growning population. I usually skip
that the main roads and take the inner route to reach my destination as
they are less congested. The longer you stay in the city the more you
will get an idea of what are the alternate routes to take. While the
government has proposed for the construction of a flyover in the
gandhipuram area, I suggest you leave from your place a little earlier
so that you can reach college on time. Best of luck for college and hope you enjoy the city, even with it's traffic woes.

Hi there. I stay in Gandhipuram and the traffic condition is pretty
pathetic. The road from Nanjappa Road to Sathyamangalam Road is really
narrow and there is a lot of traffic. The government did not take into
consideration that the area was getting developed and there would be the
need to better the infrastructure for the growing population. However, I
have some good news for you. The highway deaprtment has proposed 150
crores for a well-planned flyover in the area and also moving of the bus
stops from Gandhipuram to help in decongesting the area.

Sorry to disapoint you, but I travel everyday through Gandhipuram and
the traffic is really bad. It takes almost 40 minutes just to travel
from my home in Peelamedu to Ganpathy. Just crossing the 1km route from
Gandhipuram to my office in Ganpathy takes 40 minutes. It is very
stressful and I have to leave an hour early just to reach office in
time. I suggest you look at other localities if you have the time. And
if your college is in Valavadi, you should look for an apartment in that
area itself. It is a really good area and the traffic congestion will
be considerably low for you as your college is located there.
