NH 212 to pass through Mysore?

Q: Hey can anyone give me info on the new road project that MORTH has in store for Mysore? Is this highway extension really beneficial for the city? What do you guys think?

I think now the project is dropped though. Many thoughtful citizens Of Mysore have gone and spoken against the contruction of this road. They feel that the 30 crores for his project can be allocated to much more productive purposes. That is true..

I don't get why MUDA and civic authorities are not telling MORTH that this project is completely unnecessary because Mysore already has a highway (ORR) that passes through the city. Why do we need another one?

Not to mention the 193 avenue roads in lalitha mahal road that will have to be cut down. This is seriously going to take a toll on Mysore's environment.

I am dreading for this project to take place. Can't imagine the number of accidents that will happen now on this road. Also the excess noise pollution and air pollution. Ungh!

Yep this is correct. The plan is to start the 5 km stretch from Nanjangund road near its junction with JLB road, nd go via the Race course and race club road and then passes through Lalitha Mahal and then reaching T.Narasipura Road in Mysore

Yeah there's a new project that Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has in store for Mysore. They plan to extend NH 212 highway that passes through Kozhikode in Kerala and Kollegal in Karnataka, to also pass through a part of the city of Mysore.
