Q: I heard about the building collapsing in Aluva. Its so scary! And considering that I was just thinking of buying porperty here. Should I reconsider other localities, or is there any precautions I can take against this?
See the fault doesnt lie with the locality. Aluva is a good place to live in, I think this was just an isolated incident of carelessness. As long as you make sure that the apartment you're going after has no such faulty construction, and everything has been done as per the rulebook, you have nothing to worry about.
Yes, apparently the ground floor was weak to start off with... not strong enough to hold all those extra floors. Then on top of that, there was a flour mill and a welding unit on the first floor. Imagine having all thsoe heavy machinery on a weak base. Of course it was going to collapse.
Yeah its such a tragedy. I think 3 people died when that building broke down. I have heard that there was something wrong with the construction, as in the building foundation was not strong enough to hold its own weight. See, this is exactly the kind of consequence that happens when people dont follow construction norms properly.
