Q: Hey is it true that there is an unspeculated shortage of sand to the construction companies in Mysore recently?

Actually if I remember correctly, there was substandard sand delivered to the contractors some years ago. It was in the news. Probably that is the reason for the government restrictions etc. I hope the government itself finds a solution to this.

Wow! CREDAI is actually a good source. Actually the delay is having chain reaction. So many ongoing projects have got delayed. Private buildings, culverts, bridges, public constructions,

The price of sand is already too high! According to the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) the price for sand truck is 24000 INR today. It was 6000 four years ago!

"The Mysore City Corporation and the Public Works Dept were being questioned. Their Contractors Association has also given the same reason for lack of sand. Sand shortage has happened before also I believe.

Hi. It is actually some government policy. The govt put limits to sand extraction in different places. And the funny part is now the demand exceeds the supply of sand.

Actually has anyone thought about it? how this would affect the customers...these people will delay the construction for some odd reason like sand shortage and finally when they have to rush it, it is going to cost more, and effectively our lives become costly. Imagine a shopping mall becoming costlier for us just because they didnt build it on time.

Yeah. It was in te newspapers recently. There is some new form of restriction on the supply of sand. And that has sort of hit the limits. Its alarming to know that constructoin is stopped in many places
