2
Yeah and once the design is approved, the state highways department will call for tender to construct the fly over.
Kirthana Sundar

3
Also the initial design has been made and the design particulars have been sent to the chief engineer of planning, design and investigation in Chennai for verification of design.

I think this congestion is mostly because this is the main entry point for all vehicles coming from Pollachi and Palakkad.
Akshat Rai

6
Oh it will be such a relief! The stretch from Athupalam to the Ukkadam bus stand is the most congested route in the city during peak traffic hours. It takes a minimum of half an hour to cross the 1.5km stretch.
Suraj Naraynana

7
Yes definitely. Already the better possibilty of better connectivity and reduced traffic congestiion have increased the rent prices in Ukkadam.

Yeah and the second grade separator would start from Ukkadam junction and end near the fish market on Perur bypass road. I think if you buy a house in this area right now, then you can reap lots of benefits in the coming future.

9
I know that they are trying to go for a four lane flyover from Athupalam toll plaza to Oppanakkara Street, which is almost 1.7 km long.

From what Ive heard one of the grade separators of the flyover would start from Ukkadam junction and end near TNSTC bus depot on Sungam Bypass road. It will be so much easier to travel between these two points!

The land acquisition is the main issue here I think. The government would have to acquire 18526.97 sq mt of private land for the project. So they have allotted 95cr for land acquisition. The project would also require 13291.75 sq mt of govt land.
Archana Ramachandran

Its going to make travelling so much easier. The flyover would have two grade separators to link Ukkadam junction to Perur bypass road and Sungam bypass road.
Satyanathan Kumar

13
So they are considering building a multi-level flyover from the toll plaza to Oppanakkara Street through Ukkadam, and a detailed project report is being readied to see if that is feasible in the estimated budget or not.
Pooja Iyer

14
Actually this flyover will make travelling between Ukkadam and Athupalam toll plaza so much easier. The project cost has been estimated at Rs 200 cr.
