Water recharge plan along the Avinashi Road

Q: Whats the status of the water recharge system at the Avinashi Road? Moving there soon with my son, want an overall idea of what Ill be facing. Please if any problems are there in that place, dont hesitate to share.

Since the original plan involved construction of tunnels and two aqueducts to cross the roads and railway lines, re-investigation of the alignment was to overcome these difficulties and to bring down the expenditure.

If this project is implemented, groundwater will get recharged as against the present situation of having to sink bore wells for 800 to 1,000 feet, which leads to huge electricity consumption.

The initial plan was to draw up to two tmcft of water from Pilloor and take it along the main canal via Velliangadu, Mathampalayam, Kuppepalayam, Kadavukkarai and Achampalayam. Then, there will be Avanashi branch canal for 21 km and another canal for 65 km till Perundurai.

I think its the The Kongu Nadu Munnetra Kazhagam, who asked the state govt to expedite, isnt it? Its good, this project will benefit a lot of farmers and resident.

The status is that I think the state govt has been asked to expedite the project, in order to speed it up a bit.

Hey bro I think you're talking about the Avinashi - Athikadavu Ground Water Recharge Scheme, right? The one which is aimed at improving the groundwater table level in Western district of Coimbatore.
