Maradu water treatment plant

Q: Guys please tell me about the upcoming Maradu water treatment plant. Will it make the water condition better in Maradu ? Im considering this place for shifting. And when can we expect this to be ready?

Yes, and currently only one pump is being utilised in a two-hourly gap because of the small power capacity at the plant site.

As of now the delay is happening because alhough all three pumps at the Piravom river have been installed to pump water to the treatment plant located 22 km away.

Other than Maradu, localities like Fort Kochi, Mattanchery, Kumbalanghy, Chellanam, Thevara are also likely to benefit from this project, so you can consider those places as well.

The most important thing that the project needs right now are the transformers to augment the pumping, and they will reach here by end of the month,

The budget for the Maradu water treatment plant is going to be Rs 210 cr, and the works are supposed to be completed by the end of this year.

Once the 100 mld project is commissioned, it will solve the drinking water issues of Kochi to some extent. I think Maradu will reap the most benefits, because the water plant is right here.

What 100mlds! This plant has been providing less than 10 mld because of incomplete works in pipeline laying and adequate power connectivity.

Yeah this project is under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, The whole plant will have the capacity of supplying 100 mlds of water.
