these officials are receiving more than 5 crores on a monthly basis. Only the higher authorities can be able to stop this. This illegal mining is degrading the face of mysore. The sand mining is having huge environmental impacts on the region, especially of the water source.
This in turn will make bad impacts on the real estate as well because the sand will eventually finish and there will be nothing for the local construction. moreover, the sand smugglers will not give sand at the present rates in mysore, they will charge higher. so the cost of construction would also go higher in mysore.
hey, i came to know that around 40 to 50 trucks are transported from mysore to kerala on a daily basis. Sand mined from Kabini River is loaded into lorries and arrive at the checkpost near mulehole. as the check post opens in the early morning, these lorries pass through the check post. no one dares to check these sand lorries which are covered with tarpaulins. the reason is best known for them.
yeah..i too agree with you. the officials turn blind eye towards these lorries that reach sultan bathery and other parts of kerala. This indicates that they are bribed by the sand smugglers or they have direction from the higher authorities not to check these lorries.
guys, i also came to know that the transportation of sand to neighboring kerala has turned more profitable for the sand smugglers of this region. The actual cost of sand in the local market is around 40000 to 45000 whereas in kerala the price is between 1 lakh and 1.20 lakhs. This huge price that is paid by the kerala builders have been the major reason for this illegal activity.
hey there, the problem of illegal sand mining in this district is more than ever. Sand is mined and then transported to the nearby state of Kerala at an alarming rate actually. The sad thing is that these businesses are done with the help of the politicians from the district.
oh, this has become a great problem that is affecting the region very badly. this is happening in spite of the government issuing no permits to mine sand in Mysore and Chamarajnagar districts river bed. The surprising thing is that these are transported across the state boundaries to kerala. I wonder how they manage to do that.
