It has been said that the proposed induatrial harbour will be deep enough to provide berthing for large product-carriers of up to the capacity of 1,30,000 tonnes. Big product tankers can load different products in different compartments. the tankers can unload petrol and diesel at different locations. This will reduce the difficulties caused by small receiving terminals like it is now.
Yeah, i expect that we will see a lot of development and investments in kochi after this. An industrial hub is a pretty big project and this will surely generate a lot of interest in the area and the surrounding ares in terms of real estate market. The land rate in Fort Kochi will definitely go high now.
Thats great news!! I think this will completly change the face of the Kochi industrial market. Imagine the growth in terms of investment guys. It is going to be pretty big with such a big industrial hub coming up right on the shore itself.
Yes, I read that the outer harbour project involves the construction of two breakwaters on both sides of the approach channel of the port, off Puthuvypeen in north and off Fort Kochi in the south, with associated land masses on both sides. The land that is being developed on the North side of the approach channel will only used for shipping activities and trade itseems. While the remaining part that is in the South towards Fort Kochi belongs to the Navy.
Yeah I have heard that even the Navy is investing in this project. The northern part of this project has an area of 2,600 acres where the industrial hub is set to come. And it will mostly be a oil hub. The proposed hub will be able to process a wide variety of o0il and crude.
Hiya, Yes Even I have heard that the Government is plannin to make a big industrial hub in Kochi. It is supposed to come up near Fort Kochi, right near the shore. The land is being developed as part of the Cochin Outer Harbour, an expansion project of the Cochin Port Trust.
