Actually, there in lies the whole problem. The department have a week's time to clear the road to let the road dry. But there is also no alternative route to take for a week's time so the traffic flow will continue which will spoil the road.

Hello. I made contact with the official that was in charge. He said that only the base layer was being laid out right now and that that it would lead to the next level. He also said that the hot tar would require at least a week's time to solidify.

I was passing through when this happened as stood around to check what was transpiring. A group of residents at around lunch time stopped by to look at the work and questioned the work that is being done. A huge argument then took over and the locals overpowered the workers and and seized all the equipments and machines.

Yes. I own a shop around here and looking at the qality of the road I think it will not now stay tlill the rainy season which comes in the nex few months. The new road is already covered with potholes, and bumps which makes commute here the worst.

State highway department was laying the roads as part of the road maintenance work that is done every 3 or 4 years. This particluar one was being laid for the 1.2 km stretch between Subramaniampalayam road which connects Thadagam road and Mettupalayam road.

The localites were protesting the use of sub stadard and low quality materials like tar and bitumen that are being supplied for the completion of the project. This has been happening for quite some time now and the people here did not want to take that anymore.

You know this blame game has been happening for quite a while now. People that travel here have said that this road will get damaged even more if they are let to pass through here and that it requires a diversion to avoid the sticky situation.

Yes. This really happened. Over 50 residents and auto rickshaws from the Subramaniampalayam road area along with several people from the BJP stopped the laying of the State Highway roads on Tuesday in the area as they were pretty furous about the work.
