Viaduct will be handed over to the track-laying contractor after the civil works are completed by October. Apart from that, work on the third traction (sourcing power from line laid in between rails) should be over by January 2016, while installing signals and telecommunication would be done in February 2016
The stoppage of works around here is also set to delay the commencement of systems works which includes operations such as tracking and traction etc, which were all scheduled to begin by the beginning of April at the earilest.
I read that the strikes has also hit the reserves for the concrete and granite requirements as the reserves used to be about 600 cubic cubic meters and 400 metres respectively which were needed on a daily basis but the supply is down to nil now.
This issue has caused more of a ripple in terms of the schedule. Which has taken a severe beating. Tarring of the roads, repairing, relaying of them, construction of flyovers and many other works will now face the brunt for this.
THhe works that have been interrupted by the strikes are piling works, metro stations, duct works, girder casting and the Muttom coach in the Kalamassery. The losses kind of built up on a multiplier effect as several peak hour works were unable to be completed.
The works in the first two reaches from Aluva to Palarivattom have been affected since February 18, while that up to the Maharajas College will stop later this week if the strike continues. This has caused a huge financial loss for the metro board which is being measured at Rs. 40 lakhs per day and comes upto a total of 4 crores rupees.
You know the strikes only stopped the work for 10 days but the work cumulated and the loss has been measured to be of around 30 days. The Metro officials were very quick to mention this when talked about the progress.
The metro corporation has fallen behind schedule because the civil works have not been completed as yet from the Aluva to the Jawahar lal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor because of an indefinite strike that has gripped the project rigt now.
Hello, yes. the deadline for the starting of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited has been extended by more than a month due to several difficulties and problems. This has happened due to some quarry strikes around the metro areas.
