Q: Hi, a friend recently told me that talks have progressed on the India-Australia free trade agreement. Is it true? Any more details on this?

I heard from a friend of mine that earlier, Executive Director of the Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce C. Sarath Chandran gave an overview on business prospects in Australia. President of the Rotary Club G. Karthikeyan also spoke, in the same event. It's nice to see the relation between the two countries develop.

Yes, i agree with the comment below me. He also said Australia would explore possibilities to bring to India experts and best farm management practices in the dairy sector. Overall i think that this would be a very good thing for the country, right?

Mr. Kelly said that Indian investments in Australia across various sectors increased from 600 million Australian Dollars in 2006 to 10 billion in 2013. He added that Australia was interested in doing business with India in the areas of agriculture, dairy, premium food and beverages and pulses

Did you know that the Consul General said that India would be the fourth country, only next to Japan, Korea and China, to have a free-trade agreement with Australia. That's a big deal in my personal opinion, since it reflects on the growth and development that the country is witnessing.

Well, from what i have heard he was here to participate at an event organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore, Indo-Australian Chamber of Commerce and the National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom).

Yes, it is true. india and Australia are expected to sign a free-trade agreement by the end of this year and it will mutually benefit both the countries, Australian Consul General to South India Sean Kelly said in a meeting in Coimbatore last week.
