please tell me about the vendor development programme for micro units in coimbatore
Q: Hey, while going through the news, i found some details about a new vendor development programme for micro units in pumpset sector, and wanted to ask you guys about some details for the same?
While, the programme was mainly for micro units in the pumpset sector and it can be expanded to other sectors too in the future events. In my opinion, that is very much required, since the all the industries can take all the help that you can provide then with.
If the bigger units continued to source components from other States, the micro units here would be hit. Hence, the president of TACT appealed to the larger industries to support the micro units here with competitive rates and orders.
According to J. James, president of TACT, the association will have follow-up measures so that those already supplying to pumpset units can look at more orders from industries here. The association has been conducting such vendor development programmes regularly
I attended the meet and the president of SIEMA requested the micro unit owners to give details of their companies, including the machinery, spare capacity and workmen they have so that the SIEMA members can contact them to explore possibilities for sourcing.
As far as i know, they are trying to source these components from the micro units here to bring down the cost of the product. It will also benefit the micro units in this region. Personally, i think that this move will really help the micro units.
Well, according to V. Lakshminarayanaswamy, president of SIEMA, most of the member units are procuring raw materials and small components from up-country suppliers. This must stop, since it is making it harder for in country suppliers.
While i personally didn't attend the meet, i came to know from a friend that the pumpset manufacturers displayed some of the components that they are procuring from other States and discussed the possibilities for micro units here to supply these.
Hey, around 50 micro unit owners and three pumpset manufacturers participated at a vendor development programme organised here on Tuesday by Southern India Engineering Manufacturers’ Association, Tamil Nadu Association for Cottage and Tiny Enterprises and the MSME Development Institute.
