You know one of the occupants of the land here, the deadline given by the revenue department to Seematti textiles for surrendering their land ended on Wednesday. But now the revenue officials have not taken any sort of steps to take over the land so far.
The plan, right now, is to widen the stretch by about 1.5 metre on either side. Once the widening work gets over, the width along the stretch would be some 12 metre on either side which can accommodate better traffic.
The land value had been fixed by the district level purchase committee for the properties in this area which is set at around Rs 27 lakh per cent. Around 50 cents will have to be acquired along the stretch.
Well they can't really do much in such cases can they? In such cases, they will have to forcibly pull down the structures with a hope that a section of tenants will give their consent in the coming days or it could lead to complications.
There's been opposition in every step. There are somewhere around 29 traders in this area of which most of them are tenants. Though most of the tenants had agreed to move out and vacate the property, a few are reluctant in doing that.
So the revenue department has given cheques for seven of the property owners which includes the compensation money. The same for the remianing owners wil be arranged for very soon as told by the revenue officials that are in charge of this.
Though the revenue officials had received the consent from landowners a few weeks ago, they failed to distribute the compensation. Some of those who have already given their consent demanded the distribution of compensation before demolishing the structures. So there obviously was a delay.
You know for the widening process, 31 holdings have to be taken over and they must be destroyed. Since all landowners have given their consent, KOchi corporation won't face any problem in demolishing the structures and going ahead with the work.
The DMRC has already started the demolition works which began on Wednesday. Once the widening work will get over, it will clearly be one of the major hurdles for erecting girders of Metro rail. Let's see how that goes.
Hello. Yes. As part of the roadwidening works on the Kaloor - Deshabhimani stretch of the Banerji Road, revenue officials and contractors of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation have now started the demolition of properties in the areas were the bridges are coming up.
