updates on gcda keeping its project out of Kerala Mission
Q: Hey, i heard from a friend that GCDA has opted against sharing its projects with partner Kerala Mission. Can someone please give me updates on the same?
Though the three projects were placed at the investors’ meet organised under the aegis of the Partner Kerala Mission, they couldn’t find any takers then. GCDA needs to step up its game.
According to Mr. Venugopal they have completed tendering procedures and identified agencies for the execution of projects. It’s now for the government to give approval. The usual government blame game.
I wanted to tell you that the projects were submitted two years ago, much before the Partner Kerala Mission was conceptualised. I hope this information comes handy.
Yeah, i fully agree with the comments below me, and would like to add that the officials cannot afford to incur additional financial commitment on the same count yet again.
Let me tell you the reason; Under the mission, detailed project reports have to be prepared by the nodal agency as decided by the government, in this case Kitco. But we have already got the project reports prepared by consultants.
Did you know that GCDA Chairman N.Venugopal was critical of the Partner Kerala Mission mode of executing development projects mainly owing to one reason. Can you guess what the reason was?
The urban affairs department had given shape to Partner Kerala Mission for taking up projects under the public-private participation model and had even organised an investors’ meet in Kochi last year.
As such the GCDA authorities have decided to stay away from the signing of memorandum of understandings by local bodies and development agencies with Partner Kerala Mission in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.
Hmm, while the issue would be included in the agenda for the next meeting, it’s not likely to be held any time soon considering that the last meeting was held recently.
Yeah, but a decision on whether to reconsider taking up these projects under the Partner Kerala Mission would be finally taken by the next executive committee of the GCDA.
The development agency had initially considered taking up its aquarium, shopping complex at Manappattiparambu and cable car projects with a combined cost of well over Rs. 400 crore under the Partner Kerala Mission before eventually opting out.
Yeah, your friend was right. From what i know, the Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) has opted against taking up three of their ambitious projects under the Partner Kerala Mission.
