Here is the few basic points to find a good builder:- 1) Ask family and friends for a recommendation if they had building work done recently, 2) contact your local builder's association for a list of registered members, 3) ask 2-3 builders for estimates in writing, and ask them to confirm whether there is any planning permission required for the work, 4) ask each builder for 2-3 references from previous customers and contact these people and find out how happy they were with the work and the builder's conduct and, 5) get a written agreement or contract with the builder, outlining the work to be done, finish date, security and safety.
