How much tax should be paid for renting a commercial complex?

Q: I have a shop rented in Rachenahalli, Bangalore for past 2 year and I feel the tax I am paying is not legible. Could you please suggest what should be the tax for rental purpose on commercial complexes?

Income tax is levied on the basis of income earned, from all lawful sources and it has nothing to do with commercial renting. It will taken as income from rent only.

lo Sanjeev,
As far as rental of Immovable asset is concerned there is no distinction between commercial rental or residential rental as per income tax. All rental income will be taxed under the head Income from house property. if you file your income tax return for rental income you will have benefits of low interest loans as you have valid income proof. So All Rental Income (Residential + commercial) = Income from House property.
