Q: I reside in an independent house in Bangalore. This plot of land was purchased by my grandfather through a sale deed. My grandfather and father died. The Katha of this plot was in the name of my father and now in my name. I plan to construct a new house on this land. My question is, whether my fathers sisters progeny has any claim to the said property.
The Khata in the name of a person signifies that the person concerned is in possession of the property in the revenue records for all intents and purposes. The Khata Certificate is a secondary document of title, the primary documents being the sale deed, partition deed etc.
