apartment booking cancellation query

Q: I booked an apartment and decided to cancel the booking withing 2 months, will I be chargeable? The booking was done on 1st Jan'13 and the possession is on Jan'14. The construction has not started yet. The builder is taking 25k from the 1lakh booking amount.Legally, is this the correct amount?

Sohni, can u share the reason for cancelling the booking? In which project had u booked flat? Is there any issue with the project or just for personal reasons? I am also planning to invest there, so I wanted to know abt it.

I think you will be charged a little for booking cancellation. If nothing will be charged then many people will waste the time of developers by booking and cancelling.. But 25K is more..

Hello Sohini, As you have decided to cancel the booking I do not think he will charge you anything.To be in the safer side consult a legal expert
