Q: Hi, I am planning to rent an apartment in this society. One of my friends has told me that this locality is having major water issues. Is it true? Is it troubling the normal life in the apartment?
The answer to your question is both yes and no. Yes there is a water problem in the area but things have improved from the last couple of years. No the water shortage does not trouble the normal life in the apartment but there can be times when the low pressure of water supply can be a cause for concern. The RWA of Suncity is planning to fix accountability in stopping water wastage and is likely to follow other societies by offering time zones for car washing, landscaping and gardening and allied activities.
Yes Vivek, the whole area of Sarjapur has water shortage because of over dependence on ground water. The illegal drilling of bore wells is primarily responsible for such water woes. I don’t know if BWSSB has the will to resolve the issue though.
@ Kanthi : Sometimes the pressure of water can be less especially for residents on higher floors. BWSSB is working to resolve the problem and are hopeful that once the Karnataka Ground Water bill is passed the areas can be added to City Municipal Councils allowing swift water supply.
Your friend has rightly mentioned about the water problems but it is common to most apartment complexes in Sarjapur road, Bellandur junction right up to Marathalli. Actually the whole area off the outer ring road depend on bore well which dry pretty son in the summer season. There are days when there is water shortage in Suncity as the Township has a rainwater recharge system but no storage capability.
