Q: Which is better: (a) high raise luxury apartment with all amenities like swimming pool, tennis court, club house, gym, badminton court, play area, large lung space etc or (b) low raise plain vanilla apartment with nil or minimal amenities (eg. gym or club house only)
Thanks for the detailed answer, Jignesh. I find there are low raise apartments (typically built on a smaller plot of land eg 5000-15000 sq ft) which are closer to residential area but more or less same cost as the high raise apartments located little further from city center (eg in doddaballarpur road in bangalore). My related question is are these amenities provided in the high raise apartments really worth the money they charge
Thanks for the reply, Arunabha Gupta. May I know why do you feel that way? Does your answer differ even if the UDS (undivided share) in the high rise apartment is bigger than the low rise one.
There are pros and cons for high rise apartment as well as low rise apartments.
Pros for High rise buildings:
1) High rise buildings offer amenities in the building like grocery shop, convenience stores, or pool
2) Will have many different sizes of rooms available, as opposed to a single model.
3)Located closer to the center of cities. which may provide a better commute to work.
4) Typically will have elevators, as opposed to the average low-rise apartment.
Cons for High rise buildings:
1) high rise buildings are usually costly and expensive due to their better location and more luxurious spaces.
2) Much more difficult to move in or out, especially if the entrances are small and limiting.
3) Noise pollution is also a problem, as your ideal location will lead to car horns and daily traffic interrupting your nights.
4) Harder to negotiate a deal because the rooms are in high demand and owners are typically less forgiving.
Pros of low rise apartments:
1) The rents are generally cheaper than high rises.
2) Allows a faster connection to the street and less elevator time.
Cons for low rise apartments:
1) There are very few amenities available in low rise apartments
2) Low rise apartments are much farther from the heart of the city, where many occupants might work
