To reduce the construction time, the project developers are thinking of using precast girder technology. In precast girders, the girder will already be made and they only have to bring the girder to the site and install it. This will save a lot of time. By mid 2015 the flyover should be open for use
RDS Project Ltd. is the company that has got the tender for the construction the Palarivattom flyover. The government has said that the flyover construction will start by May or June, and the flyover will be completed in 18 months. They have estimated it to cost Rs. 72.60 crores to build it. The flyover will have four lanes, with a pair of lanes having a width of 8.50 metres. The construction will begin soon, and land acquisition is being done now at Rs. 24.9 crores. The rest of the money, i.e. 47.7 crore will go for construction
The project was sanctioned by the government in January, 2014 but it has taken some time for construction work to begin as power lines, water lines, and telephone lines had to be shifted before beginning construction work. There has also been a little delay because of the elections as the rules say that a government cannot sanction funds just before the elections.
No, the construction of the flyover hasn't begun yet. The flyover which is to be built on National Highway 47 near the Palarivattom signal, is going to be 620 metres long. The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala have set a target of one and a half years to complete the entire project.
