Sure water supply in the area was abyssmal, especially last year. But in terms of real estate Kakkanad is doing quite well. Booming infrastructure, close proximity to IT centres, greeeat road connectivity as it is located along the NH 47. Airport and railway station are also close by. The area has some nice parks and recreational facilities. Investing here is a good option. Infrastructure is developing and the water supply situation will eventually be completely fixed. Let's not forget the buzzing Infopark and CSEZ as well as the proposed Smart City in this region! Ultimately this area has a lot of long term benefits!
Last year was a very bad year for Kakkanad. Even though we paid the water bill for the whole year, randomly there will be disruptions in KWA work and we won't end up getting water. The civic authorities are literally of no help. They don't give you any information as to when the water supply will eventually return, nor are there compensations. The real estate in the area dropped as people started moving out from Kakkanad because of this problem. Some new residential homes did not even have the water pipeline installed even though there were residents already living there. This issue needs to be solved completely. I don't want just temporary provisions!
So apparently the pipes at Kakkanad were really old and badly needed to be replaced for a while now. Wonder why KWA hadn't thought of it until the problem took a toll on all the residents. But ofcourse, they were low on funds and there was a lot of delay with the work. The residents had to pay so much to water suppliers just so that they could get drinking water. Atleast some for of compensation should be made by the civic authrotities to the residents. Especially the ones living at Sunflower who were living for a week or longer without water supply from May 1. Obviously now the problem has been fixed, I just don't know how reliable the water supply is there after these episodes.
Yes yes Kakkanad faced horrible water shortage in January last year that went on for a very long time. All of a sudden the Kerela Water Authority got disrupted and water supply was cut off for areas in and around Kakkanad. The worst affected areas were Thuthiyoor, T V Tower Junction and surrounding regions on the Seaport Airport Road. Everyone really suffered because of this crisis. Everyday household chores were affected by insufficient water and in the beginning days residents living in residential homes were sharing the water on a ration basis but pretty soon there was not even a drop of water left in the tanks!
