New 'Knowledge City' in Ujjain

Q: Can I get some info on the latest investment project that is being developed in Ujjain? Won't the real estate in the area benefit from this?

Visited the site and the highway 4 lane work has just started. Another 2 lane road connecting Madhopur and Agrod village in Dewas distt has also started. The Road beween MIT ujjain and Palkhanda village via Gawdi and Madhopur has started.

The Railway platform at Madhopur is very clumsy old rotten building. There is a single track. If double line be planned would provide good internal comnnectivity between Karcha and Madhopur the end points of Vikram udhyogpuri 8 kms apart.

The village Piploda is on the highway and land acquisition through the mid village is a factor

As many as 16,000 people can get an education here. And employment opportunies are a lot, around 78,000 for a residential population of 50,000. That is really good for the township. Earlier, all 442 hectares of the land was to be for the development of a number of educational institutions such as engineering, business and management studies, medical studies, bio-sciences and agriculture studies, environmental and design faculty, vocational and skill development studies and other such education streams. The built up space is four million square meter with an expected investment of Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 13,000 crore! That is great development for the entire state of Madhya Pradesh

"The DMIC Trust has approved funding for the project. It will invest Rs 59.50 crore in equity of special purpose vehicle company along with debt component of Rs 372.80 core to develop key infrastructure. The state government will invest in the form of land in the equity. The SPV has already been created as Vikram Udyogpuri Company Ltd.," this is what the official has stated as per the news on May 5, 2014. The project is only going to start it's operation sometime between 2016 to 2017. And it approximately costs 900 crores. The plan is for it to become an integrated township with commercial spaces, residential apartments, educational institutions, infrastructural advancements, and semi public buildings. It will increase the property potential of nearby localites like Ujjain.

Knowledge City is a great project to come up in Indore. It will boost the real estate value but as of now, there has been alternations made to the project because it the investment potential in the educational sector has gone down. Since the project is on 1200 acres of land, not only a small portion will be for education and the rest will go to industrial development. The project is also renamed to Vikram Udyog Nagari after the famous king of Ujjain, Vikramadithyan. This project was planned under the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and an SPV has already been formed. Let's see how it goes!

Hey so last time I checked, the state government had acquired the land for the knowledge city project which is supposedly 50 km away from Indore. I don't really know if work has started as yet but they were supposed to get water supply, electricity, drainage system and roads in the first phase of the project which was supposed to be completed by 2016. They needed funds though about 300 crores which I think, they got from the central government. Another project also was said to happen, the Pithampur, Dhar, Mhow project costing 200 crores to provide Narmada water supply to Pithampur's industrial cluster but I know that project didn't really work out too well and Pithampur never got the water supply. Not too sure about knowledge city but I like the sound of the project a lot! :)
