Traffic diversion problems on the NH47?

Q: Hey is there some kind of traffic diversion going on at the NH47 because of the metro rail work? I’m starting my new job in two days, and I have to take the NH47 to get to work. Can anybody help out a bit?

Arey don’t worry man! This blockage is not at all for us. Its just for the bigger vehicles, you know the double decker trucks that transport shipment along this route t night. Any big vehicles that are bound to the airport will have to turn left from the Paravoor junction and then turn right towards Aluva. Also, to reach this Aluva Paravoor junction, vehicles will have to pass through Pathalam jn, Mupathadam jn, Kadungallur west and Kadangallur east, and then turn towards the UC college jn. So basically vehicles headed to Thrissur and Aluva will have to move through the flyover underpass at Apollo Gate and then make a right turn into Edayar road at the container freight junction.

Ok, so I can share whatever I know about this issue, and then you can make the correct decision accordingly. So this blockage is basically because of the metro rail construction work, as you must already know. The authorities are a bit worried that because of all these big trailers and cranes, there might be a bit of a traffic blockage so they have decided to keep that stretch closed to general public. Actually, even small vehicles will be able to pass through. Its just the big trucks which transport smaller vehicles that are not going to be able to pass through this stretch. However it wont affect any traffic that is taking the Aluva-Kalamassery route, towards Ernakulum.

Yeah, from what I’ve heard, the NH47 has been blocked from 11 July, to prevent any kinds of traffic issues, because some serious construction works of the metro is going on there. Though I’m not sure about the timing exactly, but if he is right, then I don’t think you need to worry. Though I would suggest you to find out about any alternate route to work. You never know what might happen.

Oh yeah, you’ve heard right. But you need not worry. The road will be blocked between 10pm and 6am. I’m pretty sure you’re working hours doesn’t fall in that time bracket? So yeah, don’t worry about this particular road blockage. But it would be better to keep an ear out for anything else. Plenty of roads are being blocked because of the Metro rail construction these days.
