Q: People, did the Government built the Gandhipuram Flyover? I read something about the proposal, like a year or two back. Thinking of investing in this area. Want to know if infrastructural developments are happening in this area or not.
The flyover is going to be a 1.2 km long, 17.2 m wide structure, covering the congested Gandhipuram and 100 ft road junctions. There will be service lanes, subways and an underpass.
Well, there is some activity these days. I am informed that some KNR Constructions have landed this Project and they have started work. We can see road being expanded and the lamp posts on the median being removed. Work completion period is 33 months!!
I hear they are using this design for a design layout of another project in Gandhipuram. I mean, if they are using the flyover design as a basis to construct another infrastructure in the city, then I think the flyover project will eventually happen, despite of all the confusion. I just hope the government stays strong on the plan.
Well, the design got finalized at the end of last year. They have also finalized the project cost and stuff. They are looking to invite bids for the project soon. I hear that the Secretary of Coimbatore Consumer cause was positive on this project soon coming under the construction stage.
I think the detailed project report related to the project was sent to the state government sometime March Last year, I have no idea if they approved it yet or not. I also read that once it was approved, the construction would get completed in 3 years, I haven’t heard of any under construction flyover in the area, so guess we’ll just have to wait.
Well, it saddens me to tell this is, but like a lot of other project, this one is also delayed. They still have to give final approvals around the design and construction. God knows when that will happen.
