Vellalore Locality Review

Q: People, how is Vellalore as a locality for a quiet weekend getaway. Have a land there, thinking of building a small holiday home here. Also, it’s no where close to the dump so I’m not worried about that.

Yes, the new bustand has been proposed here. it will definitely improve the real estate scene in the area. especially, if they shift that integrated bus stand which was planned at gandhipuram, then the area will see rapid developments. And this move will not cause traffic issues in Vellalore, because there already iss enough land here to work with.

Hey there is a proposed new bus stand that is coming up in Vellalore. This area is not grate in terms of social infrastructure, but i this with this increased connectivity, there will be mmore people who will come here.

you cannot find any hospitals or college or school in this region. but, yes these all are available at a near proximity though. This area is primarily residential in nature. apart from some bakeries and other daily needs shops, there are not many commercial set ups in this region.

hey, vellalore has a decent connectivity to other parts of the town actually. It is near to the Salem Kochi Kanyakumari highway. the vellalore road intersects through the heart of this town. there are some important bus stops in this region like Shakthi nagar bus stop, Elgi Nagar Bus stop, Vellalore bus stop, ESI bus stop, Peachiamman kovil bus stop etc.

Ah the dumpyard! The locals there are facing so many problems because of this dumpyard. Their health has gone for a toss because of the unhygienic conditions in the area around the dump. kids have constant cold and infections. The waste management is very inefficient. They aren’t carrying out proper processing of the plant.

There is severe water shortage in Vellalore. the residents need fresh water connection soon. Because, the groundwater is very polluted due to the Vellalore dumpyard. I think you should either apply for fresh water connection soon or get tankers as per your convenience.

Oh yea, there are banks and ATMs in the area. There are enough vegetables and grocery stores too. Not the big ones, but you’ll get fresh produce. And you know what it'll serve as holiday home for a few years, it'll develop soon.

True, it is very touristy in a way you know. Make a nice home, go there and chill few times in a year. If you go around you will find the basic amenities also around. So, you’ll be far from the city, but close enough to whatever basic you might need.

There are number of old temples also in the area. You don’t necessarily have to be religious to enjoy these temples. Just find the priest and ask him about the history of the temple. You’ll hear good tales. The place is good for a quick quiet weekend getaway.

It actually is pretty quiet and nice, if you ignore the whole dumpyard issue. A bypass runs through Vellalore (the Avinashi-Pallakad bypass). There’s a tank in the area too, near the Noyyal River. You could go bird watching too.

Haha, glad you cleared that. I was going to give you a big list about the dumpyard. Anyways, for a getaway it’s nice. There’s a lot of greenery around. If I have to put it in a little more tourist attraction way, I’d say it is very serene and scenic.
