Yeah, there are still some issues with this whole project. Currently it is lagging behind because of delay caused by the property owners, who are not submitting documents on time. Also there have been several reported cases of misplacement of some important documents. But it should be fine, because more than 1 lakh property register cards have been issued and will be distributed quite soon. The only challenge the government is facing right now in this project is to figure out a way to document collection wrt vacant lands.
Once you submit the necessary documents to digitise your property ownership, you will be given a property Register Card, which I find somewhat similar to the RTC for rural properties. Once you have the register card that is pretty much all you will need to exert your ownership over your property. The state has also declared that UPOR registration is compulsory for any kind of property related transactions, from May 1st. But I heard that that date actually got postponed till July 15. I ‘m not sure about this though.
Hey ranjitha! Let me brief you a little on the UPOR or the Urban Property Ownership Record project. This is basically a state launched mission to digitally record all property ownership information and provide property ownership cards to everybody in Mysore. Basically this started because there were a number of fraudulent practises going on in Mysore in property registration. Also the purpose of this whole UPOR project is to lower property disputes, by creating a compact database with all necessary information in one place.
