Traffic problems, open drainage and pollution in Mysore
Q: Hey I've heard that of late Mysore has been facing some major civic issues like water problems, traffic congestion, open manholes, inefficient roads and all that. Can anyone elaborate on this? Might be moving to Mysore soon and i need to know what sort of problems I'm going to be dealing with
Some public participation method where people from everywhere in Mysore come together, unite, only then can something be done. But seriously, Mysore is still developing. It will take time for it to develop into its own. But Im sure it will happen soon.
Don't try taking a morning walk in one of the parks in Mysore. You'll only end up inhaling a lot of tobacco smoke and you won't find any decent footpath to walk on. also I'd advise you to stay away from Kukkarahalli lake. It is very polluted and ill maintained.
It's quite ironic but recently when I was driving down ring road, I found an open sewage manhole that was located right opposite the Karnataka Pollution Board. Haha
Reason for this is that a little while ago people actually protested against the cops when they tried to enforce rules. That is why now people just speed of even when the traffic signal shows red.
The cops don't bother to enforce the helemt rule with full efficiency. I'm from Bangalore where we are fined for the smallest things. But in Mysore cops look the other way when it comes to such things saying that most citizens don't abide by the laws.
You will have a horrible time travelling down KRS road onto ring road. Best of luck with the innumerable number of potholes and craters that will definitely make you fall off your bike at least once.
