Actually compared to other tier 2 and tier 3 in the south, Coimbatore's property market is slowly gaining good returns. Also development is very much there. Lot of IT companies are taking up office space in Coimbatore. Now even residential demand for completed residential projects is rising. Give it more time. Or invest in Coimbatore only for long term investments.

Coimbatore should do something about these civic issues. It is the only way real estate will improve in the city. in 2013, realty prices were stable but did not bring in much interest from investors to invest here. They still feel development of infrastructure is at low stage.

Coimbatore has also started to take water conservation techniques very seriously. There are plans to install rain water harveesting systems all over the city in residential, commercial and industrial complexes. This be the best way to recharge ground water.

Ultimate purpose of this cleaning up of 9 water bodies in Coimbatore is to provide more ground water supply. This is being done by stopping sewage flow into the water. And also mass cleaning drives have happened in the past, with public participation where all peoples help is picking up garbage and waste in the bund and peripheral regions of the lake.

Actually the program under the Ministry of Environment and Forests has the aim to conserve all the lakes and water bodies in urban and semi urban areas. SO this deed must be done. Coimbatore badly needs to clean up the lakes. We have so many, but none that you can use. Even to swim in, water is very bad.

I read that the commissioner of Coimbatore municipal corporation has said that the corporation alone cannot do much to conserve the lakes. Only with the help of CRRT and its efficient methods, can this process take place. The corporation as of now, if waiting for the work guidelines from CRRT on how to go about this rejuvenation process.

Yes but this project I feel has been stalled for very long time. Close to 3 years. And National Lake Conservation Plan gave 55 crores to preserve the lake in Ukkadam. But even that work hasn't happened yet.

Yeah all the lakes are to be cleaned up. Except for Ukkadam Periyakulam. CRRT has been known to do the clean up work for Cooum and Adyar rivers in Chennai. Those were extremely polluted and stank very much before. Now it is better.

I don't know if this is confirmed yet. But Coimbatore's city municipal corporation is really hoping it will get funds from Chennai Rivers Restoration Trust to clean up the lakes of Coimbatore.
