Q: Still so much unsurity about the Indore city limits under the IMC. The polls are also coming closer and closer. Have the indicated anything regarding the expansion limit of the corporation?
Yes your point of view is also valid, but dont you think that since power of governor is vested with state government, so collector acted on the behalf of state government while merging the villages in the municipal corporation?
Well the fact is that IMC and state govt both should have learnt their lesson from the MP high court's recent order in which court has cancelled expansion of municipal limits of Jabalpur and Chhindwara on the ground that collector has no power to merge villages in municipal limit, as only governor can notify it.
Yeah about that, I heard that the state government was going to file a review petition against the HC order cancelling expansion of municipal limits of Jabalpur and Chhindwara. The decision on the review petition will have bearing over the case related to expansion of Indore's municipal limit.
Yes from what Ive heard, master plan of Indore has recommended merger of 90 villages, but the IMC has merged only 29 villages leaving large parts of the master plan area outside municipal limit.
The problem has been there till now since the civic body failed to explain before court the criteria for selection of villages before their merger in municipal limit. The Indore municipality limit has been expanded by the collector but he has no right to do that within municipality limits!
Yeah, and that is adding to the uncertainty over the ensuing civic body polls.I know one of those PILs has been filed by social activist Kishor Kodwani. He has challenged expansion of city limit on the ground that there are discrepencies between the master plan of Indore and the actual expansion work done.
I know that most ticket hopefuls have already accepted that this expansion is happening and they've started celebrating. But one more thing lets keep in mind that two PILs are already challenging expansion of municipal limits. so i think the expansion will not happen so smoothly and acc to any plan.
All I know is that IMC limit was increased by merging 29 villages So that lead to an increase in no.of municipal wards from 69 to 85. And as far as I know the reservation and the other processes have been completed for those.
Well the fate of the civic body election in city is still uncertain. This is mainly because hearing in cases related to expansion of IMC limit have yet again remained incomplete before the MP high court on last Friday.
