Q: Hi friends, my partner and I are planning to move to Thrikkakara next year. Could somebody give us an idea of the locality and the infrastructure in general?
Hey, the area has a strong social infrastructure. As you can see, there are some good schools in this locality. Some of the reputed ones that comes into my mind are Hill Valley Higher Secondary School, Cradle Care, Cochin Public School, Cardinal High School, Darussalam LP School, Naipunya Public School, Infant Jesus School etc. You can also find the School of Management Studies as well as some other reputed institutions in the nearby locality.
Trikkakara is a nearby locality to Kalamassery. It is a large locality with lots of residential pockets like Hidayath Nagar, Haritha Nagar, Vidya Nagar, Mannoppilly Nagar, Judgemukku, Karimakkad etc. The Edappally-Pukkattupady road passes through the centre of this locality. So, this means that the connectivity to the city is quite good in here.
the authorities also plan on monitoring the public to make sure they don't keep littering. Surveillance cameras are to be places in important places like Info park. A huge penalty will be the fined if any company is caught polluting.
But thats changing, they have launched a project which will enable Thrikkakara to get a 'clean municipality' status. The project is said to collect waste from 20,000 households, commercial establishments and offices and 2 bins; one for plastic and one for bio waste will be provided.
The locality had a garbage disposal issue. There were some cases of rampant waste dumping. I think it was basically because the nature of the locality is primarily commercial. These commercial establishments generate large amounts of waste and so far the municipality has not known what to do with the situation.
Yes I've been living in thrikkakara for many years. everyone who is located within 5 km from the waste management plant at brahamapuram are facing many problems. Thrikkakara Residents Association Apex Council has already raised these issues before. 20 crores went to waste because of this faulty plant. now almost every vacant plot is a dumpyard in thrikkakara. the municipality tried to fine people who dumped waste but this also did not help.
Recently only we had a lot of trouble with the local authroties and civic body in thrikkakra. also thrikkakara has very worse garbage issue. waste management is very poor. municipality is supposed to dump waste in Kochi Corporation at Brahmapuram. But somehow this process is happening very slowly and still the garbage situation is very bad here.
Good news for you because transport facilities are convenient in thrikkakara. even the roads don't have that much traffic. closest railway station is in Edapally, which is about 4 km from here. But cochin international airport is 20 km away but if you go by NH 47, it will get you there pretty fast.
Thrikkakara is quite a well-developed locality if you ask me. Sunrise hospital is a famous multi specialty hospital that is present here. apart from this there a lot of educational institutions like bharata mata school, govt model engineering college and kmm arts and training college and cochin public school.
see one thing is, thrikkakara is a nice locality to live in. but i don't how stable the real estate market is. In 2011, I remember the price per square feet was Rs 3500. Then this value depreciated that in 2012, it became around Rs 2900. Now the value stands at approx Rs 2900. So property values keep fluctuating here. But yes, very affordable properties you will find in thrikkakara.
Now thrikkakara is gaining lot of real estate interest because of the Thrikkakara-Kakkanad belt, where IT park is there and upcoming. Interestingly enough, this was the very locality in Kochi where Onam originated from and is very famous for that. Since you're living there now, you should definitely go for the onam light festival that takes place here at the end of Onam, every year.
Hi, I must say that I love living in this locality. It has the right blend of shops, banks, schools and hospitals. Moreover, Lulu Mall, which is a major landmark in Kochi, is hardly 3 km away. :)
Hello there, Thrikkakara has a lot of educational institutions in the area like St Joseph's Public School, Cochin Public School or Cardinal High school. Thrikkakara is a nice place to reside. There are a number of temples, churches, and mosques in the area in addition to schools and colleges. The locality is developed and well connected by public buses.
