Oh, I heard that the authorities are providing their phone numbers to the property owners. this is intended to provide some more comfort for the owners in tax payment. If the owners are not able to visit the Mysore City Corporation zonal office, then they can give the authorities a call and they will come to their doorsteps to collect the tax!!

there was some news about providing the people the facility of online payment of tax. Actually, this was announced last year itself. But, I think this has not yet been taken off. Now, I think, the MCC has planning door-to-door campaign for collecting tax. this plan is to calculate the tax for each property. but, the actual amount would be calculated once the property owners bring last year's payment receipt.

yeah, this drive to collect tax is accompanied by the practice of mysore city corporation to levy almost 2 percent fine per month for delay in the remittance of tax. If someone has defaulted on tax payment during the previous fiscal year, then the penalty can be justified.

so far, the MCC has collected 55 crore rupees in this year. there are 19,750 properties on the revenue sites and they have estimated a projected tax collection at around 7 crore rupees. and also that, 8.08 crore rupees in property tax for the last fiscal year, ie., 2013-2014 is yet to be collected.

I think there will be a likely change in the set target. The city commissioner is planning to make a detailed assessment of the target that is set by the Mysore City Corporation. The revision would be on the basis of the potential to earn revenue. Now, there are more than 1.76 lakh registered properties in the city. They will also be studying whether all the properties have been brought under the tax net or not.

Hey, recently the Mysore City Corporation was in a bid to earn revenue. They further strengthened the rules about the collection of property tax from the public. I think now they have set a target of rs. 85 crores for the fiscal year 2014-2015.
