Q: I am settling down in Indore with my family. I have a 2 year old son, so I want to live in a residential locality. How is Mhow for that? Is it a safe family-friendly locality?
There is even a small shopping centre called the Malwa Complex, basically where Mhow residents love to shop. There is actually a large number of garment stores and tailor shops in Mhow. To add to it, is the good connectivity. The locality even has its own railway station - Mhow Railway Station.
I think even though the commercial infrastructure is lacking in Mhow, the place earns full points for having all necessary social facilities. There are so many schools and hospitals here, and of good quality also! Get Well Hospital, Military Hospital, Child Care Hospital, Prashanti Hospital etc are all in Mhow only, and offer pretty decent healthcare services.
There is even a Veterinary Hospital in fact! What more do you want for the place that you're living in. Full of smaller shops and grocery stores. The Bhanwarilal Mithaiwala shop is actually a pretty famous sweet shop here in Mhow. You must try it for sure when you come here.
Ok so there arent any major brand names or big supermarkets in this area btw. But enough small shops area there, and you can get pretty much all that you need for daily household purposes around here. And if you dont, then you can easily venture into the city centre easily.
Locality is definitely family friendly. You'll find enough schools here also for your little boy. Lets see, there is obviously the more popular Kendriya Vidyalaya and the Army Public School. Rajeshwar Vidyalaya is also another prominent school in here. Other names are Sarafa Vidya Niketan, Pioneer Academy, Colonel's Academy and Shree Shikshayatan.
Well since its almost 20 km away from the main city, things are much calmer around here. It basically stands on the Mumbai-Agra Road. Oh and by the way, its not called Mhow anymore. It has a new name now - Dr Ambedkar Nagar.
Yeah actually, despite being located on the south western outskirts of the city, it is still well connected, I mean the SH1 itself passes through here. Of course in here its called the Mall Road. Not to forget the Old AB Road which is basically a connector between Mhow and the NH3.
The best thing about this place is there is plenty of greenery, thanks to the adjoining Mhow Gaon, and its quite clean, and removed from all the city noise and congestion. But at the same time, its quite well connected, so you wont feel isolated or anything
Ok so Mhow is primarily a residential place, so your worries are pointless. This place is quite safe and all, from a family point of view. All amenities are available on demand, so there is hardly any inconvenience of any kind.
