Revenue department's action against unrelenting landowners
Q: I recently came to know about the revenue departments strict action against the unrelenting landowners in Kochi. Can anyone give me more information about this?
Hey, I also came to know that the immense pressure from DMRC also led the revenue department to implement the forcible acquisition. The district-level purchase committee (DLPC) has fixed `27 lakh per cent for the area. This is true no?
You might be wondering that the plan to widen the road was only 1.5 metres on either side while maintaining a total width of 12 metres was taken no? Even though the original plan was so, it was later changed to 4 metres to provide space for drains, cable ducts and two-lane roads along Metro Rail’s alignment.
I think the decision about the strict action was taken after the joint inspection by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation(DMRC), Kochi Metro Rail Ltd(KMRL) and the revenue department that the decision to widen the road by four meters on either side while maintaining a total width of 12 meter was taken.
As far as I know, now 28 out of 68 landowners have submitted their consent for releasing their land as per the price fixed by the district administration. But some of them are still not ready to accept the offer. If they fail to adhere to the district administration’s order force will be used to acquire the land
If you ask me, i would say that the department of revenue is planning to script the Pachalam story again at Kaloor Deshabhimani road. Earlier in Pachalam, the land owners were forcefully evicted from there no...this is also going to be similar.
Yeah. that is true. This is for the land acquisition for the Kochi metro. If everything goes according to plan, the Revenue Department will use force to acquire land at Kaloor-Desabhimani stretch for Kochi Metro Rail this week itself.
