If the landowner continues to show hesistance for parting with their land, revenue department will have to acquire it forcibly. But that will entirely depend on how the talks will go and the land owner wont really want to hesitate as he won't be getting the proper compensations.

Earlier, negotiations with the landowner had failed as he demanded a compensation of Rs 64 lakh a cent. But the district-level purchase committee (DLPC), chaired by district collector, had fixed Rs 32 lakh as the land value in the area.

The revenue department will once again have to get busy and hold talks with the landowner for getting his consent to surrender the land where the remaining stretch of metro works will be coming up.

Revenue officials had published the draft declaration for acquiring 1.16 acres back in 2013. If only 55 cents is to be acquired, fresh draft notification, after cancelling the existing one, will have to be published and besides the metro wll need to acquire the remaning land later too. SO this was the better thing to do.

Here's why the partial acquisition was not possible. According to revenue department, once the draft declaration is published, the entire extent has to be acquired and partial acquisition is not possible. So you know why the revenue poople disagreed to the partial plan.

Hi. I can shed some light on that. Though the original proposal was to acquire 1.16 acres for parking lot and Metro station at Edappally, KMRL on February 10, 2015, sent a letter to revenue authorities asking them to cut short the extent of land to just 55 cents.

The KMRL decided to go for partial acquisition, as they also had to consider the financial constraints that they are facing as well. However, they decided that going ahead with their original plan and acquiring the entire land was the right thing to do.

You know the KMRL decided to reduce the equirement to 55 cents expecting that the entire land could be acquired at a later stage after sorting out the issues related to land acquisition but the revenue dept were ready to accept such an offer where they had to do it again.

A few days ago if I am not wrong. The revenue department had turned down KMRL's request for reducing the land requirement in the area to 55 cents from the original 1.16 acres citing that partial acquisition is not technically feasible.

Yes. The deal is done.Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, the requisition control holders for acquiring land for the Metro rail project, has given the greeen signal for acquiring 1.16 acres from one of the directors of a jewellery group at Edappally.

So after a long time to think about this. The Metro Rail Limited on Monday, sent the revenue officials with a letter stating that the entire 1.16 acres can be acquired. So the revenue department will be working towards that now.
