Railway Bridge Gap in Indore

Q: I've heard that the railway bridge near Sarwate Bus Stand area has a gaping hole that causes an inconvenience to the passersbys below? What exactly is the problem here and are the civic authorities doing anything about it?

People are now very apprehensive to pass under this bridge only. Recently there was an interview with the Ratlam divison PRO, Jitendra Kumar Jayant, where he said that fixing this problem was not in his hands and that it was upto either the state government or the Indore Municipal Corporation to do something about it. He also suggested that no one should pass under the bridge when the train is moving overhead. Well who the hell would voluntarily do that anyway?

This is a very big problem for those of us living in this area. Even though I am aware of the situation, I have still fallen victim to it, once or twice. It is not our job to go up there and fix it. It is the job of the railway authorities to cover the gap with a corrugated sheet of aluminium. The situation has gotten very bad because traffic stops for about 25 to 30 minutes because as you must know, there are multiple number of delays with the Indian railways. We don't know when the blasted train is going to pass over our heads and shower us with things unpleasent.

This is a funny story! okay not really. My friend was riding on his 2 wheeler from Juni Indore to Vijay Nagar when he experienced the horribleness of the situation. He was in the Sarwate bus stand area when he saw the the traffic had come to a standstill on both sides of the street when a train was passing overhead. Confused, he continued to ride down it and then his clean clothes were immediately soiled as crap fell on them! Yes. Faeces. It is so disgusting that the railway authorities have done nothing to fix the problem and now whenever a train passes, vehicles need to stop unnecessarily, when they can just ride under. Traffic problems and major civic issues.
