TNSCB not following building rules?

I understand that this construction work is under the Slum Free city project. But still that doesn’t give them the right to encroach upon land that has not been authorised to them. The ironic thing is that they are themselves trying to free the city of the illegal slum constructions and now they have ended up doing this. They are trying to build 13440 houses to accommodate all these slum dwellers and so they started with Anna Nagar near Kovai Pudur. But this is definitely not the way to go about this problem

Guys I have heard of this news too. At least one good thing is that the forest department has already served them notice to stop all unauthorised construction work. Obviously its unauthorised. The TNSCB don’t have any of the official documents of approval from the local planning authority office or the Hill Areas Conservation authority (HACA). But I don’t know if they are even heeding the warning, because work is still going on there.

Yeah man! The worst part is that all these illegal buildings are coming up on the Kovaipudur area, which is one of the most beautiful places in Coimbatore. Its so lush and green and surrounded by mountains. It will be a shame to see such a beautiful place turned into another urban settlement full of unauthorised, illegal buildings. Its a shame because a lot of vegetation will be affected by these constructions and the poor wild animals will have to suffer as a result of that.

You mean the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board right? Yeah you’re right. I was reading this in the newspaper just a couple of days back. Apparently they are constructing all these unauthorised structures in Kovaipudur. I think it is really shameful for a government body to act like this. How can the corporation punish the other illegal encroachments when this government department is also doing the same thing! I hope something is done soon to take care of this issue on hand.
