Q: Hey, I recently bought an individual house in Avinashi Road. I currently stay in R.S Puram, and I will be shifting to this house in Avinashi road in a month or two. I recently heard of some sewage water issue in the area, which is causing a bit of an inconvenience for the residents there. I have two little kids and I don't want them to fall sick due to unclean water in the area. If someone can tell me about this issue about the sewage water, it’ll really help me make a better decision if it is the right time to move or not. Thanks!
Well, it’s not just Avinashi road, nearby areas like Lakshmi Garden, Anbu Nagar, etc are also affected by this problem. But, I hear the PWD did not make that hole. Why would they?. They are the ones who constructed the check dam for our safety. However, I think they shouldn't just let the matter sit quietly, they should punish idiots who did such a thing and quickly do something to repair these damages. Because, it won’t just have short term effects but will also have long-term effects like pollution of groundwater. Areas like Avinashi road are good booming real estate areas.
That’s pretty much the best summary I’ve seen of the whole check dam problem going on in a few areas in Coimbatore. To add to it, what happens is, when the tank constructed by the check dam fills up with water, it flows through this drain and crosses through Avinashi road. Now, because of that hole that was made, the problem of the residents of the area and nearby areas arise. There are the typical issues like bad odour and mosquitoes. Honestly, I am also worried about the mosquitoes, they carry diseases, the PWD and the government should take some actions and seal the hole, so that our area can get rid of these things.
Hey, you heard it right. There is some trouble going on in Avinashi road and nearby areas due to the sewage disposal. I’m not sure if you’re aware of it, but there is a natural drain that runs east of Coimbatore, somewhere around Lakshmi Nagar. The PWD did a good thing and they started a check dam to store water, which would you know benefit people in the surrounding areas. But, then a hole was bored into the drainage to let the sewage into the drain. Well, this pretty much destroyed the motive behind the whole check dam idea. Also, if you are around the bethel nagar or nearby areas, then you might face this issue, otherwise not so much. Just take precautionary measures like mosquito repellents and wash your hands and stuff. Then, no worries.
