Q: My colleague told me that they are making a new bus stand in Vellalore? A bus stand in the outskirts of the city? Any reason why all the way in Vellalore?
But I heard that there is a huge garbage dumpyard right where the bus stand is supposed to come up. With the wake of the recent developments around the upcoming bus stand, the residents are calling for the removal of this 654 acre garbage dumpyard.
I think that Vellalore was chosen because of two reasons, A) availability of land, and B) its easy accessibility from the neighbourhoods of Avinashi Road, Trichy Road and Ukkadam.
Well I heard that this bus stand is going to be a Rs 150 cr project. This is currently the hot topic of discussion in all the chai shops in Vellalore. People are optimistic about the upcoming developments that this will bring. Hopefully new hotels and a stronger commercial infrastructure.
Yea Vellalore is very strategically located, surrounded by Podanur- Chettipalayam road, also the Salem-Kochi National Highway. It is a very appropriate decision. but, before they go ahead with, they will have to improve accessibility to Vellalore.
This shift is essential! If they shift this bus stand, then the lorry stand will also shift from Ukkadam to Vellalore outskirts. But, like last time they shouldn;t give permission to private bus people to operate till Gandhipuram. Then no point of this new bus stand.
Yea! Bus stand in Outskirts would mean no traffic due to buses coming from Tirupur, Erode, Palani, Tiruchy, Madurai, etc. I could really do with less traffic in main areas. But, I think the integrated bus stand project in Gandhipuram will get completely shifted to outskirts. Now we know where, in Vellalore.
Hey, don’t you think Vellalore is a great location for a bus stand. And what all the way? It’s less than 10kms from Avinashi Road, Trichy road, Ramanathapuram, and around 12-13 km from Gandhipuram bus stand. We won’t have all the buses traffic in the main city if they build this bus stand.
