The fames 6 lane ORR project which was supposed to serve as a bypass route for long distance highway traffic, only connects Bannur Road, Bangalore Road, KRS Road, Hunsur Road, Bogadi Road, Manandavadi Road and Nanjangud Road. It is yet to connect Nanjangud Road with T.Narasipura Road and Bannur Road by going around Chamundi Hill.

Yes that's the reason why there's going to be a new project being undertaken by Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. They're planning on making NH 212 the new bypass highway that goes around the city.

I think the major problem with the ORR lies in the fact that highways connecting cities should not be made to pass through cities and should just travel around the city and not directly through the city.

MUDA has been wanting to expand the roads for a while now. But problems of decreased foot path space and removal of avenue shade trees did not gel too well with the residents.

Mysore has a growing vehicle population of about 8 lakhs a year. That means there is an addition of 100 new vehicles to the roads per day. Can you imagine how annoying travelling in Mysore is?
