I’ve even heard that the government representative at the board of directors played a very insignificant role, which resulted in an agreement which mostly favoured the TECON. If the government fails to live up to their promises, then TECON can take legal action against them, but not vice versa. Its been 7 years now, and still no scene of real development at sight :(
Yeah, yeah! Ive heard a lot of negative things about this whole undertaking. The valuation of the land allotted is completely messed up. 12% of the total land is now under the freehold rights of TECOM.
Ok so what Ive heard is that the government made the huge mistake of not properly scrutinising and deciding on how much land is actually necessary for this project. So what has happened is that they have ended up promising too much, which they cant even provide!
I know. The CAG has intervened and they have discovered some massive flaws with how the whole thing has been carried out. Apparently, the government has favouring this project a bit too much. The Dubai based TECOM Investment Private Ltd was the main partner and they didn’t even do a proper background check on them.
True. A lot of us have already invested in property, thinking that this would be beneficial and they would be able to cash in on the opportunity. But now we are thinking whether that will ever happen. It is very disappointing.
The status is not good, Im afraid. From what I’ve heard, the project is stuck due to some reason. I’m not exactly sure why, but I think its for the lack job opportunities that were created. The funny thing is that we were promised a number of job openings which would bring in more people to our city, which was supposed to be good news.
