Locality overview of Perumbavoor

Q: Hi. I am relocating from Mumbai to Perumbavoor in Kochi. I wanted a basic overview of the place. How are the schooling and hospital options? What about connectivity to nearby towns?

Hey, Perumbavoor is pretty well connected by road. If you have a four wheeler, pretty much entire Kochi is accessible! Also public transport connects well. Nedumbassery Airport is 14 km away. Aluva and Angamaly railway stations are pretty close too. Kaladi, Malayatoor and Kothamangalam are all nearby.

Yeah..there is one near Valayanchirangara called Parathuvayalil Ayurveda Hospital. Nowadays all these ayurvedic hospitals are doing pretty good. Good for Perumbavoor actually.

For hospitals, there is a flurry of them on the munnar road. Near the junction of Main Central Road and Aluva Munnar Road, you can find Lakshmi Hospital, San Joe Hospital, ESI dispensary and Govt Hospital.

Recently many play schools ave also come up. If you go near the Ambalakulam area you will find Govt. lower primary school and Akshara Play School. Guess many young business families are moving in here.

But the rains? I don't really like the rains. I recently moved to Perumbavoor, and if you are like me disliking rains, you sould think twice about buying a house here. Some 4 to 5 cm rain is getting recorded these days! Phew! I would recommend you get a house in Angamaly and drive to Perumbavoor as the road is good.

Perumbavoor is awesome! The climate and the lush green surrounding due to the timber industry just adds to it. As far as housing options go, like everywhere else in Kerala, most are landed individual houses. Around 38%. Shops and apartments will only take up 6% because since old days the housing plots are tied to the plantations.

Welcome to Kerala. :) Perumbavoor is mainly an agricultural town. Since it lies on the banks of Muvattupuzha river, there has always been wood industry thriving here. Probably one of the biggest plywood eporters of the country. But of-late, many people have moved in from elsewhere due to the IT boom of Kochi. It is a very sound place for family life withh all facilities.
