Yes, and they are not even citing any proper reason for not collecting it. This surcharge would have brought in close to Rs 1.6 lacs.

I know that the Mathuvarayampuram panchayat didnt collect property tax surcharge for the Karunya university campus buildings.

The actual loss amount because of inefficient assesment of property tax couldnt even be calculated, because there were no proper records only.

Yes the Ikkarai panchayat remained silent and didnot notify anybody about the construction of the 64,000 sq. ft meditation hall, with the huge dome structure.

Ok so I know what happened at Ikkarai. Apparently this Isha Yoga Centre ust constructed a number buildings, without proper approvals or planning.

Yeah I know, isnt that fee around Rs 375 per sq. m? I heard that the total due amount towards this fee is Rs 1.38 lacs.

Yes, basically the theme park was not constructed according to protocol. It owed the state govt infrastructural fee, which it failed to pay, thus incurring a share of the loss.

There has been a Rs 1.38 cr loss in Theethipalayam only! the main reason behind it is the theme park there, Kovai Kondattam.

I have the names of the guilty panchayats which caused this huge revenue loss - Ikkarai Boluvampatti, Mathuvarayapuram, and Theethipalayam

All this came to light recently thanks to the audit report prepared by the accountant general of Chennai.

Problem was all these districts did not assess the property tax and other taxes properly. There were a number of illegal constructions here. As a result the govt lost a lot of money on this.

Yes and all three of these districts lie in the Thondamuthur block in Coimbatore.
