DB Road locality in Coimbatore overview

Q: Because of new job, Im moving to DB Road soon. Tell me please if it will be easy living there or not. Im used to staying in residential colonies with plenty of shops and provision stores. Will I have the same after my move too?

The corporation-run special school for hearing impaired located near this venue is a first-of -its-kind initiative by a local body in Tamil Nadu. Shastri Maidan, another famous landmark located towards the southern end of DB Road, was once a graveyard. It was converted into a playground in an attempt to keep up with the rapid urbanization of this place

Waise dont worry about your weekly or monthly household and grocery shopping. Plenty of places to do that on DB Road. I do my shopping from New Raja Stores, aor sometimes from Kuppuraj stores. Also there is a nuts and spices and a Orchard fruits and juices here too

The place pretty well planned also you know. Generally, Coimbatore is not considered a well planned city, but this road and R.S.Puram are brilliant exceptions. Have you heard of the famous Kennedy Theatre? Well it used to be here. Even now there is a bus stop by that name Kennedy Theatre bus stop

Make a note of all the prominent hospitals on this DB Road. Ill just list them off one by one here - Vikram ENT research and hospital, Govt clinic hospital, Vijaya Hospital, Gateway clinic & hospital, Rasi hospital, and Apollo white dental.

Dude, this DB road na, very ideal to live. Especially for us youngsters. I also live here, number one feature is all these restaurants all lined up along this road, full on commercial street it is. There is KFC, Polar Bear, Greens & Grains, That's Y Food, Bravo Restaurant, Peeking, and JM Cake Shop. These are just some of my favorites okay.. There are more there of course.

Actually there are some higher education institutes also there, like the Police Recruits School, then the Devraj School of Arts, Indira Gandhi National Open University, KO2 Mutha Community College, PSG College, Institute of Engineering Mathematics, KMCH College of Pharmacy, Metro College of Paramedical Sciences etc.

Ok so yeah lets talk about the schools here, there is the government high school of course, then also the Genius Mind Academy. Govt higher secondary school, Govt middle school, Vidhya Niketan Metric High Secondary school, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Global Excel Math Academy, etc.

Basically its an arterial road of the RS Puram area. In fact not just any road, but the locality sees maximum commercial activity along this road only. Otherwise schools, colleges, higher education institutes are also there, so dont think that its entirely only commercial.

The road gets its name from Diwan Bahadur Road. It actually used to be called Rathina Sabapathy Puram Street earlier. Another fact that not many Kovaiites know that Corporation Kalairangam near D B Road was originally meant to be a movie theatre, but the plan was shelved and it serves as an auditorium
