I will tell you that the rivers will see better days ahead of them with this. The project is expected to give a new life to Kshipra river. Khan and Saraswati, tributaries of Kshipra are now causing pollution in the holy river.
You the the 58 crore project that they have worked on for this, the IMC have decided to send the sewer line to dedicated treatment plant at Kabitkhedi. As currently over 210 MLD of sewerage water from the city is released into two rivers everyday
There are over 168 sewer lines that lead to the rivers right now. Now with the latest directive I am not sure as to what would happen because the sewer flow will be stopped. I am not sure how they will circumvent them.
Also I heard that the officer in charge has guided all his fellow officials to come up with a set of guidelines for building permissions on the banks of the rivers. Also they were told to check the illegal construction around the banks.
Divisional Commissioner of the IMC and officer in charge has said that they will closely monitor the sewer lined of the new houses and whether they led to the rivers and if they do. They are cancelling them right away. This should have happened sooner I think.
Basically the IMC has plans to revive Khan and saraswati rivers and to continue on that they are planning to block giving approvals to any of the houses or projects that will let their sewers flow into the rivers.
Yes. Indore Metropolitan Corporation has decided that enough is enough and have decided that the rivers around the city needs a lot of saving as it has been polluted for a long time now and IMC are not ready to let that happen from now on.
