Oh at the same time, tendering process for the first smart city in Madhya Pradesh near Ujjain has been delayed. The union government proposes to develop a smart city —which will be an industrial town - near Ujjain under Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project.
In relation to this, I think that the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC) will invite international competitive bidding to develop a trunk infrastructure including water supply, sewerage treatment and roadways among others.
I also came to know that there was a plan and proposed model of the smart city was being prepared. However, the proposed project is unlikely to materialize, if hints dropped by the industry minister are any indication.
Actually, the government officials had also scouted for land near Pithampur for the proposed project. A team of SmartCity Dubai was to visit the state to explore the possibilities of developing a smart city.
I got to know that the land which is available near Indore and Bhopal can be best utilised for industrialisation as there is huge demand for prime industrial land near big cities. It was last year that the govt. had announced plans to develop a smart city on 1000 acres of land.
I think that any such smart city can come up only on 1,000 acres land which is not available near big cities like Indore and Bhopal. i came to know that he state government plans to focus on developing industrial infrastructure rather than diverting funds for smart city projects.
I think that the land availability is very less. They are not getting enough land there. I think this will hit the ambitious smart city project. I think that the smart city project has to get at least a minimum of 1000 acres of land.
