Q: Hi, Recently, I came to know that Indore is planning for a light metro project. I am curious to know more about this project. If anyone has some latest information regarding this, please let me know.
I think that the information from the authorities are yet to come about the completion of the first phase of the development. In the first phase of the project, as far as I came to know, the decision is that the train will run 15 km per hour under the first phase.
You know, the A2Z company has been the reason for the slow progress of the metro. The officials are already asked to take a quick decision on this. The authorities have already given strict instructions to the officers to speed up in the progress of the major development projects of the city.
Last time, during the review, the minister asked about the hurdles coming in preparation of DPR of the proposed Light Metro Train Project and told the officials to get rid of them as soon as possible. I think the district administration is yet to avail the information about the government land coming in the way of the proposed route of the project.
There has also been interventions from the Urban Administration Development and Environment ministry also instructing them to resolve all the basic hurdles coming in front of laying of the Metro Project before the next meeting.
The slow pacing proposed ‘Light Metro Train Project’ is broadly expected to get a major push from the next month onwards after the district administration has assured UAD minister to inform about availability of land for Entire Fast Mass Mobility Project within the next two days.
The last news that I came to know about the metro in Indore was that as of 9 December 2014 Geotechnical surveys and formation of the company is being carried on for the implementation of the project. The project will be completed by 2021 with first phase in 2014.
I came to know that this system consists of a Network of 85 km and with lines overlapping and branching. In May 2013 Rohit Associates was appointed to prepare a detailed project report for the MRTS including the selection of the system for the city.
You know, the proposed metro coming up in Indore is a light metro system. I came to know that this light metro is designed by Rohit Associates Architects & Engineers Pvt Ltd headed by Architect Rohit Gupta.
I think that the total light metro system consists of 4 corridors covering a distance of 85 km. The cost per km will be 182 crores and total cost is 15,000 crores. There will be three types of run,i.e., on road, on bridges and also underground for some places. km.
Hey, I think this Light Metro Project in Indore has been declared some time back. You might not be hearing about this because, the progress of this light metro transit system is presently going on at a snail pace.
